Family Activities in South Jersey!

My husband and I both grew up in South Jersey and now we are raising our daughter here and have our second child arriving later this summer. Recently my brother and sister inlaw moved to South Jersey with their son and with a baby on the way! Naturally, with a toddlers and babies on the way we started talking about the local activities there are for young families! These are some fun activities we enjoy!

Parks to Visit in South Jersey

Our family loves a beautiful walk and South Jersey does have several wonderful parks to visit. One unique park is Franklin Parker Preserve. We love visiting in the Spring and Fall to avoid some of the bugs! Another wonderful place to visit is Washington Crossing State Park. There are some pretty towns and trails along the Delaware River for bike riding and bridges that cross over into Pennsylvania. One other unique place to visit is the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford. Cedar Run has multiple trails to walk as well as animals to visit indoors and outdoors!

Down the Shore!

Going down the shore is always something fun to do! We love Ocean City, Cape May and Long Beach Island. Ocean city has the boardwalk and fun activities, rides and restaurants on the boardwalk. Cape May is a little farther south with a unique Victorian Style and a fun town center! The Cape May Zoo is also a fun out outing for families and it’s free to the public. Long Beach Island is a little more low key, probably the closest to us and has tons of beach access as well as the Barnegat Lighthouse and pier to visit! In the last few years my parents have been loving Stone Harbor which is a quieter town with a beautiful town center and beaches, we always make time to visit them when they are staying there!

Local Attractions and Activities for Kids

The Camden Aquarium is a fun day trip with lots to see. I’ve also taken Riley to the local indoor playgrounds in Medford, Peekaboo Playground is cute and not too big for little kids. This was a fun rainy day activity or in the winter, remember to bring socks for you and your kids!

Farms to Visit with Kids!

We love to visit local farms! Hopefully in the near future our farm will be a place for your family to come visit, but there are several local farms that are beautiful and have so much to offer. We love to visit Johnson’s Corner Farm! They have fun seasonal activities, pick your own fruits and veggies, wagon rides, animals to visit and always something beautiful in their store! Last Summer I took our daughter to Strawberry Hill Farm for some peach and apple picking with my college roommate! It was a little farther away for us but a beautiful more rural farm with some chickens to visit! We also enjoy visiting Russos Fruit and Vegetable Farm, they have a beautiful store and we loved picking pumpkins there this past fall!
